Special shoes for the man in my life

This is a very special cake for the man in my life who loves sport shoes!!!

IMG_5790Always the shoes he likes are all so beyond my budget (yes he has really high taste with shoes!!!), so I rarely can afford to get him one. This year though despite of the hectic schedule I decided to make him a cake in the form of shoes he likes.

sport shoes cakeI decided to just make a small cake since we have been loaded with a lot of cakes recently. So this shoes cake is in kids size 4. This is my 1st attempt of shoes cake. When he shown me the photos of the shoes he likes – NIKE Kobe VII 7 WBF, at first glace it looks quite a simple design, but when I zoom in the detail, I was shocked to find out this shoes has so much of detail from its textures to its shoes laces!!! It took me quite sometimes to put up the detail but I’m quite happy with the end result.

I am blessed this year to be able to attend the 2nd cake decorating class!! This is a novelty cake class with Sharon Wee from Sharon Wee Creations. I got to learn how to carve shaped cake which I am very hopeless with and learn simple airbrush skill. I’m pretty happy with the end result of the cake I learned from the class.

Thanks to Sharon for the great teaching! Hope I can have more chance to improve myself with more cake decorating classes.

Teapot Cake

“Better a neighbour nearby than a brother far away” Prov 27:10. This verse speaks clearly to me & my family as we do not have family staying in Australia. A good neighbour means even more to us!! We are very blessed with a wonderful, helpful and thoughtful neighbour next to us. Their live have shown us what a real love God wants us to show to other. Neither to say they help us in all areas. As the Christmas season is approaching, I want to bake them a nice cake a a token of my appreciation for their friendship and love. I came across some teapot cakes recently and thought it would be good to give it a try.

I’m not good in carving cake at all, so the shape of the teapot is not really perfect and nice. I am trying to duplicate a China Teapot that I saw in the net. Love the drawing and the elegant look of it. Too bad this is the best I can come out with in my teapot cake.

What I enjoyed the most is the painting on the teapot. It brings back a lot of childhood memory. Only then I realised that now long I haven’t been doing painting!!

A lot of improvement needed for my shape cake. I hope I will be able to learn some skills on carving and covering shape cakes in future.
