1st Clay Figurines Class

Well, this is really an out-dated post. I just realised that I never had a chance to post this. End of last year December, I had a chance to go for an intensive clay class with a very good clay master in Penang while having a holiday visiting family and friends there. It was an intensive clay class so to speak before I have very limited time to spare for the class, thus, accumulatively I only managed to spend 2 days to learn 6 cute human figurines! These figurines are made of resin clay – the best clay I ever play with so far!!! Light weight, flexible and durable, and it is air dry clay!

However, I am very pleased with the result and I’ve learned a lot of skill from the master from modelling the figurine from head to toe, to colouring and handling it. I fall in love with clay after this. It is much more “versatile” with compare with fondant and so fun to play with.

And the great thing is that I was able to bring back all the figurines I made in the hand carry box without any damage!! I really hope I have opportunity to learn more from the master in future if I ever have some spare time when I am in Penang.

Unique customised wedding couple

Received this unique request for the customised wedding toppers.

This topper is made of clay. The wedding couple requested a yoga bride and a running man groom! Such a unique topper isn’t it? The figurines post and dressing were based on the photos provided by the couple.

I forgot to take the front view of the bride before gluing them together on the plague. This is the best view I could captured

And finally the side view of the complete topper

This topper travelled all the way to NSW!!

I really hope that the wedding couple will like this topper.

Little “Tiger” turns 1

This is the 1st cake I’ve done in 2012. Didn’t manage to post them up until now as I’ve lost my SD card for the cake photos I captured in!! Devastating! Really thankful for the lovely customer who’s willing to send me the photos she managed to capture. So all these photos are courtesy of J!Thank you so much J!!! You are an angel!

This lovely mom wants a handmade figurine of her little boy with the tiger costume as the boy was born in the year of Tiger (Chinese Horoscope), for this special little boy’s 1st birthday.

The 6 animals figurines on the cupcakes represented birthday boy’s parents and grandparents in their own Chinese Horoscope, how meaningful!!!

My very first…

My close cousin sister just had her wedding during the Christmas period. When she told me about her wedding close to half a year ago, I offered to make her the wedding figurines. Her wedding is in Malaysia. Initially I plan to order a wedding cake for her so that she can put the wedding figurines on top. However due to the budget and also her preference to have a cake that she can keep for memory, I decided to make her 3 tiers dummy wedding cake.

To make sure the figurines can survive the long journey to Malaysia, I decided to do the clay figurines instead of sugarcraft figurines. This is my very first time attempt to try out clay and also my very first time doing dummy wedding cake!!!

The wedding couple figurines made based on the gown, hair style, posture and groom’s cloths my cousin choose.

Here’s the 3 tiers cake with the figurines. The theme is white and purple and the design of the cake is chosen by my cousin as well.

And here goes the lovely couple with the wedding cake…

IMG_8337 I am so glad that this time the figurines and the cake survive the trip from Melbourne to Malaysia!!!

I feel even more pleasure to be able to make my close cousin sister’s wedding cake! Thanks HC for giving me such an opportunity!

Last minute we managed to make our trip to Malaysia to attend their wedding. So I also did some simple cupcakes for the wedding day with the help of my auntie.
